MC Gold: The Journey of Laughter and Entertainment

My Name is Joshua oladepo kayode populaly known as Mc Gold
Entertainment has always been more than just a passion for me—it's what brings me joy. Making people laugh and saying the things on their minds gives me a sense of fulfillment, and that’s why I keep doing it.

My journey into entertainment started back in junior secondary school. During social activities, I was always pushed forward as the entertainer, making my classmates laugh especially when it came to teachers! I would create fun, meme-like moments that made school activities more enjoyable. That’s when I realized how much I loved entertaining.

By the time I got to senior secondary school, I had become the go-to MC for event social days, cultural days, and other school activities. I didn’t just host events; I started bringing in different acts to make each event unique and more exciting. That was when I started organizing shows in school, inviting different artists to perform, and turning regular social activities into something bigger and better.

As my passion grew, I began performing outside my school, entertaining at different schools. Eventually, I found myself performing at the University of Jos (UJ), even though I wasn’t a student there at the time. But my talent and energy got me noticed, and I became part of their social activities.

Later, when I got into Federal Polytechnic, I realized that entertainment on campus was a bit low. That’s when I came up with an idea—"LAUGH IT OUT WITH MC GOLD – Campus Envision." This event debuted on February 16, 2025, at the ASUP Secretariat, where I brought in artists from different regions and states to give the polytechnic a fresh and exciting experience of entertainment. The response was amazing, and now, we’re planning to make it even bigger

During the event, the Head of Department (HOD) of Mass Communication was present and witnessed how everything unfolded. He encouraged me to keep pushing forward, which meant a lot. Additionally, my Class Adviser and other lecturers offered their support and words of encouragement.

One of my lecturers, Malam Dahiru, emphasized the importance of putting prayer first, which became a guiding principle for me. Their support, along with encouragement from people outside the school, gave me the confidence and courage I needed to succeed.

And that’s how MC GOLD came to life—an incredible journey that turned out to be a blast and a great success!

I’m still looking forward to participating in more social activities to make school life more engaging and fun. Education is important, but so is socialization, and I believe creating a vibrant school environment enhances the overall learning experience.

With people like Kabenzino and many other great acts, we’re building something new and exciting for the campus. This is just the beginning, and there’s so much more to come!
